A human being cannot be seen as a slave, a subject or be turned into a sheep. Human beings are the master of their own lives, the creator of their own destiny. No authority can take away everyone’s responsibility to decide for themselves and assume all the consequences.
We don’t need to write laws that will inevitably restrict the freedom and the sovereignty of human beings for there is already a set of non-written laws, the natural / universal laws which regulates all the living. There exists a natural process that will occur to correct anything that is not in harmony with the natural order. The common sense of a wise group of people – often the Elders of a community – can advantageously replace human laws that have historically been used and abused by the authorities to control and enslave the people.
The citizen when inside the city are not submitted to any law but the natural law ¨do no harm¨. The citizens when self-directed will self-organise and naturally choose to follow the guidance of those they consider wise.
As all the basic needs are met and everything is shared or made easily available for free, stealing will become pointless.
As for violent crimes, putting people in cages is cruel and not a remedy.
Even for those who carry genetic traits that make them susceptible to violent behaviours, the new science of epigenetics shows how environmental factors are the key to genes expression. One can carry the genes of a psychopath and live in harmony with others just like some cancer genes carriers live all their life without developing cancer.
We can create environments that contain or bring violence to naught.
Those who suffer, make other people suffer. Those we don’t love enough create all the sufferings. The love and care, the connection within the community can do a great deal of prevention.
Violence when it is not for protection and survival, is a socially undesirable learned/programmed reaction of the brain and can be treated scientifically.
Scientific developments in medicine and neurobiology let us hope this possibility.
If necessary, criminals and people who cannot live in harmony with the rest of the community will be expelled from the city.
The LightCity will have no police and no army. Humanity has lived most of its history without any police force. When let free, everyone becomes responsible for themselves, for their harmony and the harmony of the whole.
